"The Missionary Voice" brings you glimpses of the life and work of a United Methodist missionary somewhere in God's world.
Missionary Voice: Jamie Michaels, US-2
Young people have a voice in Washington DC.
Listen to one--missionary Jamie Michaels shares surprising stories, such as the time a multiracial group of young people from South Carolina addressed Congressman James Clyburn's staff on Capitol Hill on the issue of environmental justice. "They [the young people] were really concerned about the level of pollutants in the rivers in their neighborhoods."
Ms. Michaels talks about how the Seminar Program addresses the issues of personal transformation, the environment, poverty, gentrification, homelessness, racism, classism, privilege, and immigration.
The Seminar Program impresses, empowers, and moves people. It offers a chance to reflect, study, experience, and advocate as young people gather for several days in New York or Washington DC to find out what it means to live their faith.
The Seminar Program is a joint program of the Women's Division of the General Board of Global Ministries and the General Board of Church and Society.
