Devin M. Hanson is a missionary through the US-2 young adult program of the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church. Commissioned in October 2010, he is assigned to the N.O.A.H. Project at Central United Methodist Church, Detroit, Michigan.
N.O.A.H. (Networking, Organizing, and Advocating for the Homeless) offers a range of services to the homeless, including a bag-lunch program, creative arts program, and one-on-one casework. Devin is coordinating the bag-lunch program, doing casework, and working with a team of staff members to create programs to enrich the lives of the homeless community.
Devin is from Wyndmere, North Dakota, in the Dakotas Annual Conference, and is a member of the Edgewood United Methodist Church in Fargo. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from North Dakota State University, Fargo, where in his senior year he served as president of the student ministry organization.
For several summers, Devin worked as a program coordinator at Wesley Acres Camp and was youth director at his home church from September 2009 to May 2010. He credits his experiences from the ministries in which he has taken part for his growing passion for peace and social justice.
He recalls: "I have been so blessed to be a part of ministries of The United Methodist Church. Through those ministries I have seen the love of Christ in many different kinds of people. It is this recognition of the value of people as brothers and sisters in Christ that compels me to work with those who are looked down upon by many in our society. To be the hands and feet of Christ in even the smallest of ways to the homeless of Detroit is a true blessing."
Devin Hanson is available for Covenant Relationship support in Dakotas Annual Conference .
