Rev. Daniel L. Lush is a United Methodist missionary currently appointed as pastor of the Willow United Methodist Church, Willow, Alaska, in the Alaska Missionary Conference.
Willow is an area of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough about a 90-minute drive north of Anchorage. Part of the historical gold region, it remained sparsely populated until a major highway connected it directly to Anchorage in the 1970s.
A member of the Rocky Mountain Annual Conference, Lush served at the First United Methodist Church in Gillette, Wyoming before going to Alaska, where he was appointed for seven years to the United Methodist congregation in Homer.
Daniel Lusk was born in Maine, attended high school in Arizona, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alaska. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Iliff School of Theology, Denver, Colorado in 1993.
"I realized a call to mission while living in Alaska [as] a young adult," he recalls. "I wanted to serve the Alaskan people and spread the love of Jesus among all the people." Dan left a small business to enter seminary, and he says he is "still working at following Jesus through service in the church as a pastor."
Dan and his wife, Maggie, are the parents of four children, two who are grown and two still at home.
