”As a missionary pastor I train, guide, and support the lay leadership of the local church, provide pastoral care to the congregation and preach and teach the word of God and all the other duties as set forth by the Book of Discipline,”Rev. Carwell explains.
Recalling a time when he knew God was working through his ministry John says, ”At Jack’s Creek UMC we were using Bishop King’s ‘Ten Timeless Values’ as a sermon series. On the day we studied servanthood we received a prayer request about a family – the husband just had surgery and the wife was having trouble walking because of diabetes complications. In the middle of my sermon a young lady raised her hand and wanted to know if we could take a meal to the family. By the end of our worship service we had scheduled a weeks worth of meals and a house cleaning – servanthood in action.”
