2008 Schools of Christian Mission: “Living the Sacred”
“Living the Sacred” is the theme of the 2008 Schools of Christian Mission sponsored by United Methodist Women around the country. Schools of Christian Mission participants will be challenged to deepen their understanding of and commitment to the sacredness of life, creation and faith through this year’s studies exploring:
- Israel-Palestine – the geographic study focusing on the history and complexities of relationships between these nations, and the concepts of security and freedom that dominate the lives of these peoples;
- Giving Our Hearts Away: Native American Survival – the issue study sharing the story of Indigenous peoples of the United States from a Native American perspective to understand the inter-relatedness of Native Americans and their lands, key issues affecting Native American communities today and Native American cultural perspectives on spirituality, the environment and community.
- I Believe in Jesus – the spiritual growth study addressing the gift of faith in Jesus Christ and the meaning of that faith in a post-modern world.
Conference Schools of Christian Mission will convene in various locations nationwide over the next few months. Watch for upcoming posting on this website for more information on locations and dates of a School of Christian Mission near you.
