Carol Barton
Leader for "Native American Survival"
Carol Barton is the Executive Secretary for Community Action at the Women’s Division, General Board of Global Ministries, working to engage United Methodist Women in action for social justice as a public witness to our faith. Current priority concerns include Immigrant Rights/Civil Rights; the Economic Crisis; Climate Change; Healthcare for All; and Peacemaking. Carol is lead staff for United Methodist Women’s Immigrant/Civil Rights Initiative and represents the Women’s Division on the church-wide United Methodist Task Force on Immigration.
Carol has extensive background in United Methodist, Ecumenical and non-profit education and advocacy. A priority focus is on women’s economic and social justice issues. She holds a Masters in Political Economy from the New School for Social Research in New York City. She lives in New York City with her husband and two children, who are in high school and college.
