Linda BeherLinda Beher

Leader for "The Beauty and Courage of Sudan"

Telling organizational stories is a favorite role of Linda Beher, who from 2003-2007 was executive secretary, communication and promotions, for United Methodist Committee on Relief, the humanitarian aid and development arm of The United Methodist Church. She reported from some of the world’s “hot spots” during that time: Louisiana and Mississippi in the US; Tbilisi, Georgia; Tirana, Albania; Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina; and Lubumbashi, Congo.

Her travels also took her to South Darfur, Sudan, where she experienced firsthand the courage and determination of Sudanese people who wanted peace so they could return home. From South Darfur and Khartoum she filed stories on UMCOR’s aid to displaced persons in camps near Ed Daein. Along with others in the UMCOR delegation she met with government and humanitarian officials in Khartoum. An accomplished presenter, she has spoken about Sudan’s complicated braid of issues before faith communities in Connecticut, New York, and Washington State.

Prior to UMCOR, Ms. Beher worked as a marketing director for Hartford Financial Services Group. Currently she is marketing associate at NetMark, a management consulting practice in Hartford, Connecticut. Educated at McPherson College and Hartford Seminary, she is a member of Asylum Hill Congregational Church, Hartford, and published The Years We Carry, a collection of poems, in 2001.
