We Are All God's Children

Day 21

By Charlotte Morrow, spiritual growth coordinator, Kansas East Conference

But those who drink of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.

—John 4: 14

Three years ago when I reached the age of 60 I was feeling sorry for myself. My 15-year-old son looked at me and said, "Mom, why are you so sad to be turning 60? You have eternal life in Jesus, therefore, you are still just a youngster in God’s eyes!" My heart was lifted by his words and I was filled with the spiritual water of everlasting life.

Dear Lord, help me to focus on your everlasting promise of eternal life.

Our bodies contain over 80 percent water. The balance of water in our system must be maintained in order for us to lead healthy lives. Our spiritual lives need water to thrive. Just as God provided daily manna and water for the Israelites wandering in the desert, Christ provides the source of our daily spiritual water. Christ’s everlasting water allows us to live without fear of death. We are able to approach life with boldness and confidence. Eternal life begins when we accept Christ as our savior. We are able to commit each day to him. He will provide the spiritual water and strength we need to fulfill our daily purpose.

Regardless of our earthly age we are all just children in the eyes of God.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to focus on your everlasting promise of eternal life. Keep me focused on the purpose you have for my life today. May I rejoice knowing that your spiritual waters will sustain me all of my days. Amen.
