Contribute to United Methodist Women’s Living Timeline!

We Make It Happen A Living Timeline 500

We are mothers, grandmothers, aunts, daughters, sisters, granddaughters, nieces, godmothers and god-daughters. We go out of our way to get the impossible done, to help the last, the lost and the least in this world. United Methodist Women—We Make It Happen.

Make It Happen: A Living Timeline

We invite you to tell the story of the United Methodist Women member in your life who has instilled in you the hope, determination and drive to Make It Happen for others. Your stories, photos, videos and artwork will become part of Make It Happen: A Living Timeline to be shared at Assembly 2014 in Louisville, Ky., and beyond.

Contribute

Honor the United Methodist Women member who inspires you by contributing a photo and one or more of the following:

  • A video of yourself describing the woman you’re honoring.
  • Artwork or written expression of what this woman means to you and how she inspires you to Make It Happen.

Your submissions will create a United Methodist Women living timeline, a multimedia expression of all the United Methodist Women members who have put their faith, hope and love into action to make the world better for women, children and youth.

Submission Details

We want to see who you are honoring, so please send in a photo of the United Methodist Women member you are paying tribute to. To accompany the photo, submit a short video (about two minutes) and/or a piece of artwork, written expression or memento. Include her name, United Methodist church she attends, and where she lives.

Video
Talking to the camera, tell us exactly what the United Methodist Women member does to inspire you. No need to be formal; you can act out a story, read a poem, sing a song—be creative! Try to give a specific story or recount a special time when she shared her talents, service, experience and time. How did she Make It Happen for you or others in need?

Artwork
The artist in you may want to draw, paint or create some other piece of artwork that honors the United Methodist Women member in your life. The artwork would symbolically or realistically show what she does to make the world better.

Written Expression
Your written expression could be a letter addressed to the woman you are honoring or a poem or essay about her and what she has done for you or others in need.

Memento
You may choose to send in a small memento (not an item that you would expect to get back) to represent the woman who inspires you.

Submit your contributions via e-mail at livingtimeline@unitedmethodistwomen.org or by mailing them to:

United Methodist Women
475 Riverside Drive, 15th floor
Attn: Anissa New-Walker/Living Timeline
New York, New York 10115

Submissions will be accepted until February 7, 2014.

Electronic photos should be high-resolution and saved as JPEG, TIFF or PDF. Videos should be no longer than two minutes and formatted as .avi or mp4. Written expressions can be Word documents or PDFs. Please write within the body of the e-mail the description of the United Methodist Woman being honored. Mailed submissions will not be returned, so make sure to create a copy for yourself!
