Bible Women 2010
In 2010, Bible Women events take place in Asia, Asia/Pacific and the United States. Leadership development skills training enables women to:
- Affirm the wisdom they already possess
- Develop a voice to share their wisdom with other women
- Structurally organize for a specific purpose
- Strengthen Christian faith through the mission and ministry of living out their faith.
The Bible Women program events are:
Asia/Central Asia – There will be a Young Women’s Leadership Trainingoffered to develop able lay leadership. Among young people attending the churches of the initiatives, the majority are women, already playing leadership roles. The proposal recommends a forum to come together and share their faith/life journey along with leadership training. Participating countries include: Nepal, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Central Asia – There will be a Bible Women Leadership assessment and training with the United Methodist Church’s Mission Initiative in Central Asia. Women’s Division has been asked to work with the women of this three-country mission initiative to determine their vision and approach to women’s leadership in the new initiative. Countries included in the Central Asia Initiative are Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Mongolia –There will be a Leadership and United Methodist Women organizational training for women of the Mongolia United Methodist Church/Global Ministries Mission in Mongolia in May 2010 as a follow-up to the 2009 visitation to explore the hopes and needs of Mongolian women in this New Church Initiative. Women’s Division and the Korean United Methodist Women Network in the United States will jointly implement the training.
Russia – There will be organizational training for women to develop a purpose and plan for spiritual growth, mission outreach and social action with the United Methodist Women of the Russia/Eurasia Provisional Conference.
