Seven Hundred Women to Walk to Raise Funds for Women and Children

ANAHEIM, CALIF., April 24 -- Nearly 700 United Methodist Women members from across the United States will "Walk for Mission" to support women, children and youth on May 6 at 7 a.m. The 5-Kilometer walk will start at the Anaheim, Calif., Marriott and will loop two times around Convention Way.  

The walkers, who are members of the approximately one-million member organization United Methodist Women, are raising funds and awareness for programs and projects supporting women and children worldwide. They are also attending their quadrennial Assembly this weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center.   

Members of the organization nationwide have organized parallel events this weekend and throughout the summer.  

Funds will be used to support programs, projects and advocacy related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.   In Southern California, these funds regularly support:
