    05/31/2013 Deb Williams was one of a team of United Methodists to take part in the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues held in New York from May 18 to May 25, 2013. She called the experience “insightful.”
  • Becky Thompson: Diversity and Hope in the Path of the Storm by Mary Beth Coudal
    05/31/2013 Becky Thompson values diversity, resilience and hope. During her attendance at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues held in New York from May 18 to May 25, 2013, she met people from all over the world who have survived in difficult situations.

  • United Methodist Women Listens to Nebraskan Farmers by Paul Jeffrey
    04/19/2013 A Canadian corporation plans to build the Keystone XL Pipeline across Nebraska. A delegation of United Methodist Women leaders and staff traveled there in April 2013 to listen to Nebraskan farm families directly affected by the proposed pipeline.
  • United Methodist Women Members Intercept Human Trafficking
    04/01/2013 Since 2010, during Super Bowl season United Methodist Women has hosted the Intercept Human Trafficking campaign to raise awareness about human trafficking and how large sporting events encourage and profit from the culture of sex and labor trafficking. In February 2013 the Super Bowl was held in New Orleans, La., and United Methodist Women members in Louisiana let the world know that human trafficking must end
  • African Women Mobilize to Build Peace by Yvette Moore
    03/20/2013 United Methodist women from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda explored their roles as women peace builders in a three-day conference at Africa University in Mutare, Zimbabwe, Mar. 18-20. Women from Mozambique also attended the event cosponsored by U.S. United Methodist Women and the Institute of Peace, Leadership and Governance (IPLG) at Africa University to help equip the women to promote peace within and between their countries.
