Get Involved with Assembly 2014

Make it happen!

How you can Make it Happen! before, during and after Assembly 2014.

National Mission Institution Kits

As we continue to enhance our relationship with National Mission Institutions, you are invited to assemble kits with items needed by your conference’s institution(s) as a pre-assembly activity. Contact the institutions for suggestions for the contents of the kits. Kit assembling may be done locally or at the district or conference level. Make arrangements with the institutions’ staff to pick up or delivery of the kits. You may be able to combine a kit delivery with a tour of the institution.

Take photos and videos of your kit assembly and send them to us! We’ll display them at Assembly!

Call for Prayer Shawls and Baby Blankets

Calling all United Methodist Women members with knitting, crocheting or sewing skills! Create prayer shawls and baby blankets for those in need! Visit the prayer shawl page for more information.

Call for Stories and Talents

We are offering an opportunity for a few United Methodist Women members to share special stories and/or talents at Assembly 2014! Tell us how you Make It Happen through the work of United Methodist Women, or tell us what made you commit to United Methodist Women and what keeps you committed. Please submit a video recording of your story to storiesAssembly2014@unitedmethodistwomen.org by Dec. 1, 2013. Members who are not planning on attending assembly may and are encouraged to submit stories.

Do you have a talent to share? If you are interested in performing on the big stage at Assembly, please submit a video recording of your talent to talentsAssembly2014@unitedmethodistwomen.org by Dec. 1, 2013.

All music, lyrics or materials for story or talent must be original or be considered public domain.

We will not be able to use everything we receive, but if your submission is selected you will be notified by Feb. 1, 2014.

Call for Scholarships

As part of the vision of radical welcome for Assembly 2014, we offer you, the members, an opportunity to Make It Happen! by donating to the scholarship fund when you register online.

Spread the Word

Visit Assembly2014.org and download, distribute and post the promotional materials available there. Help spread the word by asking “Will you Make It Happen at Assembly 2014?” We hope so!

Assembly Ambassador Plan

Yvette Richards, president of United Methodist Women, is putting out a Make It Happen! challenge to get 8,000-12,000 women to attend Assembly. To learn more, reach out to your program advisory group member.

Conference Assembly Liaison

As we get closer to Assembly, several staff teams may ask for your help and for the support of United Methodist Women members (whether they currently hold office or not). We are recommending each conference appoint a conference assembly liaison.

Liason duties:

  • Assist with registering local attendees.
  • Provide online, technical assistance with registration.
  • Be an Assembly contact for the national Assembly business office.
  • Work with the conference communicator on promotional strategy.
  • Help book hotel rooms.
  • Assist with registration transfers.
  • Communicate to the Assembly business office your conference’s travel plan.
  • Connect with Assembly Ambassadors recruitment drive organized through President Yvette Richards.

Please send the name, e-mail, phone number and address of the appointed conference Assembly liason to Assembly business manager Tonya Cameron at tcameron@unitedmethodistwomen.org by June 30.
