Join Thousands Calling for Just Immigration Reform

An historic March for America for Immigration Reform will take place Sunday, Mar. 21 in Washington, DC. Thousands from the faith community and national immigrant rights groups will rally for just immigration reform now!

The event is being held in conjunction with Ecumenical Advocacy Days. United Methodist Women are sponsors of Ecumenical Advocacy Days, and have a long history of active involvement in this annual education and training event for public policy advocacy on key social justice issues.

This year, 10 Women's Division staff and United Methodist Women members are participating, including a delegation from the Desert Southwest Conference of United Methodist Women. Carol Barton, Executive for Community Action will co-lead a workshop with the Rev. Kelvin Sauls on Racism and Immigration. Bishop Minerva Carcaño of the Desert Southwest Conference and chair of the United Methodist Task Force on Immigration, and Sung-ok Lee, Assistant General Secretary of the Women’s Division, will also participate.

United Methodist Women will be present at the march and rally. To join our contingent, please contact Cindy Johnson, Yim Intern for Immigrant Rights, cjohnson@gbgm-umc.org. Come make a public stand for immigrant rights!

On December 15th, Congressman Luis Gutierrez proposed immigration reform as the first step in legislative debates. Read about Women’s Division recognition of Congressman Luis Gutierrrez’s work and priorities for just immigration reform.

Please join us in supporting immigrant families by signing the March for America’s petition.
