10/22/2013 October 24 is United Nations Day—a day that celebrates the United Nations’ dedication to working for peace, development and human rights. United Methodist Women has a long-standing relationship with the U.N., going back as far as 50 years, when United Methodist Women built the Church Center for the United Nations (CCUN). Situated directly across from the U.N., the 13-story Church Center is a permanent home for doing work on behalf of peace. Recently, United Methodist Women celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the CCUN, honoring the peacemakers that work with governments all over the world.

10/15/2013 Following World War II and the Korean War, United Methodist Women recognized the need for a place to work on behalf of peace. In 1963, United Methodist Women dedicated the 13-story building it built and owned, naming it the Church Center for the United Nations (CCUN). Over the years, this building has been home to countless groups, regardless of religious affiliations, working on peace and justice issues. On October 9, United Methodist Women, staff, and many who have worked there celebrated the building’s 50-year anniversary.

10/07/2013 Held in conjunction with the United Nations High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development, the People’s Global Action on Migration (PGA) brings together grassroots organizations from civil society to highlight migrant issues. United Methodist Women co-anchored PGA and co-hosted a week of events with six other grassroots organizations, all part of an international coalition of labor, faith, human rights and migrant rights organizations working together so “migrant voices can give their concerns.”
