House Parties

Plan a House Party

A House Party for Assembly 2010 is an event encouraging women to attend Assembly 2010, re-energizing existing members and encouraging women to join United Methodist Women. House Parties will be taking place nationwide October 20, 2009 and February 23, 2010.

The help of internet technologies will bring UMW leaders right into your living rooms and fellowship halls. Three house party models, or scripts, described below, can be used to facilitate or host a house party.

Be a host and select several of your United Methodist Women friends to help you. Sign up online here, indicating which type of house party you want to plan.

Select a Script

To plan a house party, select which type of house party you would like to host, using these scripts as a guide.

There are three house party scripts to help you implement a house party: Low-Tech, Moderate-Tech, and High-Tech.

The Low-Tech script can be done with items from the Spread the Word page on this website and require no online, computer or technical support.

Because there will be specific call-in times and live video broadcast required for the second two script models on house party dates, more technical advancement is necessary.

The Moderate-Tech script requires a phone with conference call capability, a hands-free or speaker phone feature, and access to the internet.

The High-Tech script requires Internet access to video conferencing (such as Skype), as well as conference call capability and a hands-free or speaker phone feature.

Please download these scripts to use at your house party:

You should plan an hour to an hour and a half for each party script. Low-Tech parties can happen on any time of day and as often as needed, since they do not require planned telephone or video conferencing. Moderate- to High-tech parties will meet on specific times on October 20 and February 23, so if you plan on hosting, make sure your schedule is free for one or both dates. Please stay tuned to this website for these future times for Moderate- and High-Tech house parties.
