Sung-ok Lee is the Assistant General Secretary of the Section of Christian Social Action for United Methodist Women. She provides guidance in general planning and coordination of the Section's total program, works on the implementation of the organization’s social policies and General Conference resolutions, keeping before United Methodist Women the current issues which require action and advocacy; serves as liaison representative in various denominational and ecumenical responsibilities and enable United Methodist Women to participate in action to bring about a just global society.
She earned a B.A.(1982) in Psychology from Occidental College, CA, an M.S.W.(1985) from Boston University School of Social Work and an M.T.S. (1985) from Boston University School of Theology. She has worked as a clinical social worker and community organizer before joining the Women’s Division in 1991 (until 1995) and again in 1998 (until the present). A daughter of a United Methodist pastor, she has served churches in the New York Annual Conference as a Christian educator and youth leader. She is a deaconess of the New York Annual Conference and serves as vice-president of her local United Methodist Women’s unit in Floral Park United Methodist Church, NY. She is married with two daughters.
