Ways You Can Support Nyadire United Methodist Hospital
Nyadire United Methodist Hospital is one of nine hospitals supported by the Hospital Revitalization Program. The program assists Methodist churches in Africa and Asia to assess the needs of their health-care facilities. It then works with the hospitals to improve standards of care, ensuring always that the effort will be part of a larger strategy of community-based health education and development.
Church or Conference Involvement
Whether it is sending volunteer teams to do construction projects, raising awareness, donating funds, or sending crucial medical supplies, there are many ways United Methodists can support their brothers and sisters at Nyadire United Methodist Hospital.
For example: the Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference in the United States has formed a committee representing a number of churches in the Pittsburgh District who come together regularly to support the hospital. In 2000, a team of volunteers from the committee traveled to Zimbabwe to visit the hospital and lend a helping hand. Today churches within the district continue to support Nyadire United Methodist Hospital by raising funds for medical equipment and sending containers full of needed supplies such as medicines, bedding and blankets for babies. Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park, PA supports the salary of visiting missionary doctor, Anand Rao, who plans to stay in Nyadire through 2006.
Interested churches of conferences should contact Health and Welfare Ministries at the General Board of Global Ministries.
