WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT

UMCOR NGO promotes gender-specific concerns through income generation activities, financial and technical support for local women's organizations, vocational skills training, leadership skills training, and technical and financial assistance in reproductive and primary health care. UMCOR NGO has conducted a number of micro-credit programs targeting women, as well as small urban and rural businesses. Income generation activities have enabled thousands of women beneficiaries to receive training and access to capital, resulting in new businesses, business expansion, additional income, and employment. While some projects are gender-specific, UMCOR seeks to integrate and address gender issues in all programs.
