UMCOR's Response to Floods in Pakistan

August 1 - The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is responding to the flash floods and landslides in Pakistan. More than 1,000 people have died and 25,000 are stranded without food or water. UMCOR is reaching out to partners in Pakistan including Church World Service, Muslim Aid, and the Diocese of Peshawar, Church of Pakistan. According to International Disaster Response executive Melissa Crutchfield, "We are preparing an initial grant to assist in relief efforts and expect to respond with more support as the damage is assessed and the needs are understood."

UMCOR's top executive, Cynthia Harvey, says, "We are praying for the people who have lost loved ones, are left without homes and livelihoods, and for those who are trapped and waiting for food and clean water. UMCOR is committed to addressing their needs and especially reaching out to those who are most vulnerable."
