Action by Churches Together Releases Annual Report
NEW YORK, July 19, 2007—The 2006-2007 Annual Report of Action by Churches Together, the international aid alliance and UMCOR partner, details “an increasingly changing landscape of humanitarian response,” according to John Nduna, the ACT director whose message introduces the report.
ACT is a global alliance of churches and related agencies sharing UMCOR’s values of working to save lives and support communities in emergencies. In 2006 UMCOR contributed $475,235 to ACT appeals in 2006. Grants supported such humanitarian initiatives as an earthquake in Pakistan and a typhoon in the Philippines.
“We all need each other,” wrote Mr. Nduna. “Partnership and effective coordination are fundamental to the discussion” and implementation of humanitarian aid.
