PALESTINE: GAZA ASSISTANCE

Renewed fighting in June in addition to the already-dire circumstances in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank has left many residents in these areas especially vulnerable. UMCOR partners through Action by Churches Together are helping a total of 9,500 families with purchasing food and other basic necessities. Health centers in both regions are also receiving additional staff and supplies to ensure basic health needs are met.

Your prayers and support are needed to bolster these people in need. Please give to Middle East Emergency, UMCOR Advance #601740. Online Giving

US: RESPONDING TO DISASTERS AT HOME

This summer has wrought many disasters throughout the US—floods in Texas and Kansas, tornadoes in the Midwest, and unprecedented wildfires in western states. UMCOR's disaster response network is hard at work, providing support for affected annual conferences.

UMCOR needs your help to ensure this kind of support continues to be readily available. UMCOR has responded to 28 domestic emergencies in 24 annual conferences since September 2006. The many emergencies over the past months have depleted UMCOR's funds for domestic disasters. Please give to UMCOR Advance # 901670, Domestic Disaster Response, to support UMCOR's work. AFGHANISTAN: GIFT OF GOATS

The gift of goats is bringing hope to 650 vulnerable families in the Wardak and Kabul provinces of Afghanistan. All of these families are struggling to reestablish themselves in Afghanistan after years of living as refugees in Pakistan and Iran. The goats UMCOR provides will give the families needed milk and wool. The excess can be sold to supplement their incomes. This is just one way UMCOR is helping those returning to Afghanistan after years of war to reestablish their lives and livelihoods.

You can support UMCOR's life-giving work in Afghanistan by giving to UMCOR Advance #602225, Afghanistan Emergency. Online Giving

SUDAN: HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

"I want to be a doctor." "I want to be a teacher." "I want to be president." These are the hopes of children sitting on rough-hewn benches in open sided school rooms in Yei, South Sudan. They have survived war and refugee camps in nearby Uganda. Now they are in school and dreaming of a new future.

UMCOR has provided these children with school kits through UMCOR Sager Brown and is giving their teachers training to improve their education. Soon, many of these children will be in better classrooms—UMCOR is constructing permanent classrooms that will be better equipped for young minds to learn and grow.

Your gifts can help Sudan's next generation take hold of their dreams, please give to Sudan Emergency, UMCOR Advance #184385. Online Giving
