Why Giving to UMCOR is a Good Investment
100% Every Time
Every time you give to a designated emergency or program 100% of your gift supports the intended need. UMCOR does not use any of your designated gifts for administrative or home office costs-they are covered by other funding channels.
United Methodist Support
United Methodists support UMCOR's "costs of doing business" through the One Great Hour of Sharing offering and undesignated giving (UMCOR receives no apportionment or world service funds). This helps to keep administrative and fundraising costs low and allows UMCOR to focus on programs that help people in need in the US and around the world.
Low Operating Costs
UMCOR keeps its operating costs (including fund raising) under 10% of the total budget. We work responsibly while focusing our efforts on bringing help and hope to those who need it most.
Long History of Help
For more than 65 years, UMCOR has been serving in the spirit of Matthew 25 in which Jesus tells his disciples, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me," (Mt. 25:40 NRSV).
UMCOR reaches out to some of the world's most vulnerable people through programs that provide healing and hope to regardless of the person's ethnicity, religion, or other factors. When you join with UMCOR to offer a helping hand, you are joining this legacy of hope.
Evaluations by Independent Organizations
Charity Navigator thinks we're a good investment, too. UMCOR was given the coveted four-star rating by Charity Navigator. This is the top rating given by this charity watchdog organization.
The American Institute of Philanthropy, another independent charity watchdog group, gives UMCOR an A+.
