Training Church Leaders

Migrant Church WorkersEuropean Church Leaders Meet

Representatives from Methodist churches across Europe gathered in Berlin, Germany, in late January to connect with one another, develop their leadership skills, and confront the challenges that they face.

The 50 participants represented a diverse group of people with wide-ranging ministries, including:

  • Ghanaian-language ministries in Germany, Italy, Denmark, and the United Kingdom
  • Zimbabwean-language work in the UK
  • Congolese working in French-speaking Congolese ministries in Belgium.

Migrant Church WorkersGatherings of Methodists from migrant and international churches in Europe began in 2006 when leaders of such congregations in Germany came together. Over the last five years, it has grown into an all-European event, including strong representation from the continent and the UK.

The four-day event was organized by Bishop Rosemarie Wenner of the United Methodist Germany Central Conference. A grant from Global Ministries helped make the event possible.
