About The Native American Comprehensive Plan

The plan enriches United Methodist Native American ministries by:

  1. Developing and supporting existing and new United Methodist Native American congregations ministries and fellowships.
  2. Developing new congregations, ministries and fellowships and enabling them to become a vital part of The United Methodist Church.
  3. Developing Native American Leadership for service to The United Methodist Church.
  4. Affirming the value and strengthen the role of traditional, cultural and spiritual contributions of Native American people for the expression of Christian faith and faith development among the membership of The United Methodist Church.

Statistics

The United Methodist Church has more than 18,000 known Native Americans among its 8.2 million members in the United States. Many are members within the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, but Native American United Methodist ministries can be found from the tip of Florida to the top of Alaska.
