With tears in his eyes, Bishop Juan Cardona said to me, "Lu, I don't know what you did with the people of the town, but for three years we have been having recreational activities with the children, bringing psychologists, clowns, etc., and we were never able to make them smile. When I arrived, I saw the people's happiness and I couldn't understand what was happening when today all the people laughed!" Read more....

The beautiful grandmother with a radiant smile was seated outside her home. Inside the small wooden shack was an uneven dirt floor covered with rags to sleep on and walls covered in black plastic to keep out the cold and rain. Despite the plastic covering, there were still big gaps between the planks of wood that allowed cold air to whistle through. In one corner was a small fire that still had a few red coals.
