Peace With Justice Sunday: Who We Say We Are
Joyce Georgief, Peace with Justice coordinator for the California-Pacific Conference, says she is "fired up" about the United Methodist Special Sunday. "It reminds us to be who we say we are," she said. "We say we love kindness, seek justice and walk humbly with our God. Peace with Justice Sunday gives flesh to the Micah 6:8 mandate, and for me, it means recommitting myself to walking the talk."

Honor Someone on Memorial Day
Gifts to mission through the General Board of Global Ministries can be offered in honor or in memory of someone. With over 1,000 mission projects to choose from, this would be a fitting tribute for Memorial Day. You may find a mission project at advancinghope.org.
Peace With Justice Offerings
Half the offerings collected by your annual conference for Peace With Justice Sunday are kept for local use. The remaining half of this Special Sunday offering funds U.S. and global work in social action, public-policy education and advocacy.
Peace With Justice Sunday is June 7.
Peace with Justice Sunday
Peace with Justice Sunday is one of the six Special Sundays of The United Methodist Church. How does your offering make a difference? Since the receipts of this offering are divided equally between your annual conference and the General Board of Church and Society, there are many programs near you and across the world! For example, a church ministry in Tennessee helps youth reconcile with their families, while child soldiers in Liberia are rehabilitated. The possibilities go on and on. Moringa: The Miracle Tree
Moringa, a once unknown tree is now regarded as "the tree of life" because of its excellent source of nutrition and energy. With regular consumption, it helps strengthen the immune system and holds great promise for HIV-ravaged and malnourished populations in Africa. Every Dollar Makes a Difference
Gifts to the Native American Ministries Special Sundays offering totaled $401,127 in 2008. This marked the fourth consecutive year of increased giving! Imagine the possibility if each United Methodist gave just $1 to this offering. Over $8,000,000 would nurture mission education and opportunities across Native American communities. Please give generously. Gifts to all Special Sundays offerings may be made at any time. Visit umcgiving.org for details about recent giving
"Tweedy" Sombrero
Ordained in 1992, the Rev. Evelene "Tweedy" Sombrero was the first Native American woman to be received in full connection in The United Methodist Church. "I knew in my heart God was calling me to something bigger than myself," she said. Gifts to Native American Ministries Sunday make available scholarships for Native American seminarians. Without this support, the Reverend Sombrero would not have been able to attend seminary. Your gift matters! Read other stories about Native American ministry on umcgiving.org
