Water and Sanitation

Advance # 3020600

Meeting the need for clean water and sanitation for communities throughout the world

Partner : The UMC General Board of Global Ministries
Location : Global, Global

Background / History

Water. It’s something many of us take for granted. It’s only as far away as our nearest faucet. Unlike most of the word’s citizens, we don’t have to worry about collecting water; it comes to us instead. In fact, the U.S. has the highest average water use in the world at 600 liters day. However, this is not the reality for the 1.1 billion people in developing countries that have inadequate access to water, and the 2.6 billion that lack basic sanitation.

Close to half of all people in developing countries suffer at any given time from a health problem caused by water and sanitation.
