Background / History

During the civil war, many men and women were physically attacked and killed, particularly in East Congo. As a result, there were great numbers of orphans in Kindu. In addition, mothers were dying from HIV/AIDS, leaving their children. The church saw the need and established an orphanage program.

Mission

1. To have a safe home and a school to attend.
2. To have a Christian couple to oversee the house and check the progress of the children.

Goals & Objectives

1. To see that the orphans attend school and graduate to serve in the community and the UMC.
2. To graduate and serve the church and the state.

Activities Plan

1. To improve the orphanage home.
2. Educate the children.
3. Establish medical facilities to serve the orphanage, as well as the community.
4. Produce enough food.

Project Outcomes

1. There is need to have more children who have lost their parents during the war living in the orphanage.
2. To attend school beyond the sixth grade, the students must live in the orphanage. Where there is provision, to attend school.
3. There will be a garden and agriculture for the students to practice, and produce food for feeding.

Project Indicators

1. The vision of a place for them to live has developed into a reality with the orphanage.
2. A Christian couple to oversee the orphanage and check the progress of the children’s home and schoolwork.
3. Build additional dormitory/classroom space.
4. Provide electrical power supply.
