Advance # 770130Growing the Church and spreading the Gospel
Background / HistoryWhen Sue Bennett College shut down, the city of London, Kentucky, Laurel County and the surrounding region lost a primary source of education, arts, recreation, and community development. The Bennett Center of London was launched to address these needs. Specifically, The Bennett Center of London is a Christian, nonprofit organization located in Kentucky's southeastern Appalachian mountains, offering all people opportunities for wholeness through programs addressing their spiritual, educational, physical, social, and cultural needs. MissionTo work use the campus to build and sustain programs and community partnerships that address the needs of people in the community and the region. Goals & ObjectivesAt present, The Bennett Center of London is seeking to improve the physical plant of the campus. We intend to make the facilities both safe and usable in order to allow more programs and partnerships to be developed. Our goal is to continue major repairs on campus, allocating $35,000 $40,000 toward major repairs over the next year. We also intend to increase the number of leases held by our partner organizations, encouraging them to continue to develop their programs on the campus. Activities PlanWe plan to empower our staff and our board to aggressively more forward in identifying programs and partnerships that need to be developed further and to then make the necessary physical plant improvements to allow them to flourish.
