Implementing a Global Health Initiative is one of the United Methodist Focus Areas. The Advance has formed partnerships that work to provide medical care, vaccinations, health screenings, and disease prevention education. There are medicine and treatment programs for victims of HIV/AIDS, leprosy, malaria, tuberculosis, and other deadly diseases. Advance giving also supports the construction of hospitals, health centers, and the purchase of emergency vehicles. There are even Advance projects that teach isolated communities about local medicinal herbs and plants. From crisis hotlines to substance abuse programs to pastoral care, Advance gifts provide healing in profound ways.
