Kathy Burton-Lewis is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church serving in the Tokyo District, Tokyo, Japan. She teaches Oral English at Meiji Gakuin High School, a Christian school with over a 100 year history of education in Tokyo.
Ms. Burton-Lewis is an associate member of the Ginza United Church of Christ In Japan. She serves as an advisor to the English School Committee at this church, as well as teaching in the school. She also facilitates an English discussion group for Japanese women twice a month and works in a telephone counseling ministry.
Ms. Burton-Lewis leads a Bible class for women who have been meeting for over 40 years. Her home is used regularly for various gatherings, discussions and committee meetings representing the different groups with which she is associated.
She is married to Harry Burton-Lewis, former missionary to Japan, now residing in Asheville, NC. Their daughter, Kathleen, and husband Steve, and granddaughters, Anna and Mae live in Manila, Philippines. They have two sons, Bryan, his wife, Minako and son Kyle; Stephen and his wife Haruko, live and work in Tokyo.
