New GBGM General Secretary champions Mission Volunteers
"...let me identify myself as a champion of mission volunteers. The Church both makes disciples and makes a difference through the tens of thousands of United Methodists who annually give a week, a few weeks, a month, or even longer to service in the U.S. and internationally. It will be part of my administration to strengthen mission volunteers, to undergird the jurisdictional, annual conference, and local organizations that form the backbone of the Volunteers in Mission movement and the other programs involving volunteers. The GBGM quadrennial budget presentation to the General Council on Ministries called mission volunteers an `enormously important work' and tagged it as a priority for the next quadrennium."
