NEW MEXICO'S CULTURAL RICHNESS
McCurdy School
Espanola, New Mexico
October 9 - 17, 2010

Primetimers are invited to join this seven-day event at McCurdy School. Here participants will experience first-hand the ministry of the McCurdy School, a National Mission Institution supported by United Methodist Women’s financial resources.
Learn about the school and its mission to provide “a quality education with a Christian emphasis” to children in the region.
Explore the opportunities and challenges of engaging in cross-cultural ministry through examining the biblical foundations of serving and an introduction to cultural anthropology.
The group will explore the rich cultural diversity of the Southwest at this event at McCurdy School. There will be travel to a variety of Native American sites of historic and present-day importance, including Bandelier National Monument, where ancestors of the Pueblo people built thriving communities over 600 years ago, and Taos Pueblo, a community of multi-story adobe buildings inhabited for over 1,000 years.

Participants will also travel “The High Road to Taos”, a trail of historical towns which retain the flavor of the early Spanish settlers centuries ago.
These times of learning and sharing will take place against the backdrop of the beautiful New Mexican landscape. Located in the heart of the Rio Grande valley, the town of Espanola is nestled between two mountain ranges - the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) to the east and the Jemez range to the west - and has the Rio Grande River running through the center of town.
Participants will also take part in McCurdy’s ministries by assisting teachers and students in the classroom, tutoring students or assisting other school staff.
An incredible week of beauty of landscape, a new understanding of cultural diversity and experiencing a mission of the United Methodist Church awaits those who come to New Mexico with Primetimers 2010.
