“I liked the whole presentation - for the first time I felt that I found a means to get connected to an actual placement for Individual mission,” said a participant in the Individual Volunteer training at Camp Egan near Talequah, Oklahoma, from August 13-16, 2009.
Of this newest class of 20 Individual Volunteers, a couple have already left for their assignments - Gina Debrew is in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Allison Kemp in Honduras.
Another two will soon be going to Belize and Bolivia. Still others are making decisions, with both US and out-of-country placements in the mix.
Staff participating were Landon Taylor, Nancy Eubanks, Debbie Vest, Barbara Stone, Joanne Reich and Susan Hellums.
“It was so great being with like-minded Christians - of various ages, abilities and disabilities - with a passion for mission, seeing how God can use us all. We felt like family in such a short time and it was hard to say good-bye”, said another participant.
