The recent Individual Volunteer training session  in Aldersgate Retreat and Cultural Center in Pacific Palisades, Caliifornia, was an exciting time, with a "first" for the program. Sabrina Lueken came from Hamburg, Germany, for the orientation/training, and left for a year of service in Guatemala immediately afterwards. She is the first international placement to come through the program, going from one foreign country to another, and was an inspiration to all those attending with her.

Others are hoping for placements in Laos, Tonga, Costa Rica, Zambia, Korea, Eastern Europe and the United States. Also welcomed were Heather Wilson, the UMVIM Coordinator for the Western Jurisdiction, and her new baby, Eden Camille.  The next orientation/training for Individual Volunteers will be August 13-16 at Camp Egan, Oklahoma.
