Fifteen persons recently completed Individual Volunteer training in New York City. From Thursday, October 9th, until Sunday, October 12th, they were engaged in Bible study and study sessions concerning cultural differences, practical matters, and dialogue with GBGM staff regarding placement for ministry. The sites of interest for placement vary from Honduras, Tanzania, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Sierra Leone to Maryland and Louisiana (Sager-Brown) in the United States. Two of the participants were Conference UMVIM Coordinators in the Northeast Jurisdiction.
One of the highlights of the training weekend was the time spent at Church of the Village as the group volunteered with the mission program and helped prepare and serve a meal on Saturday. The group ate their lunch there as well and learned of the various ministries being offered by that church.Photo credit: Laura Thompson
