Meet the Mission Volunteers Staff
Our staff is made up of people with an ardent desire to support Mission Volunteers.
Clinton Rabb
Assistant General Secretary, Mission Volunteers
The Rev. Clinton Rabb, a member of the Southwest Texas Conference, has been serving as the head of the Mission Volunteers unit since July 2006. Currently, in addition to ongoing programs such as Individual Volunteers and Primetimers and supporting the United Methodist Volunteer in Mission (UMVIM) network, Mission Volunteers’ priorities are:
1. To work with the Jurisdictional UMVIM Coordinators and in collaboration with other program units of Global Ministries in developing volunteer opportunities related to the four focus areas of ministry,
2. To create resources and opportunities for long term Volunteers in Mission partnerships,
3. To train Volunteers in Mission Coordinators outside the U.S.,
4. To facilitate Annual Conferences in adopting an UMVIM Sunday, and
5. To continue to refine the role and practice of UMVIM in collaboration with UMCOR and Annual Conferences in responding to disasters.
Rev. Rabb has been with Global Ministries since 1995. Prior to serving in the Mission Volunteers unit, he served as an executive for special initiatives in the Evangelization and Church Growth unit, working particularly with new mission initiatives in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. Rabb crafted the "In Mission Together Church to Church Partnership Program," which links congregations, annual conferences, volunteer efforts, and mission personnel. He has also worked in the US with ministries involving African-American, Mexican-American, and Vietnamese-American communities.
During a span of almost 20 years as a pastor and chaplain in Texas, Rabb was engaged in a range of VIM teams both domestically and internationally. His work with new mission initiatives put him in frequent contact with the Mission Volunteers program. He holds the bachelor of arts degree from Austin (Texas) College, the master of divinity degree from the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and the master of arts in counseling from Trinity University. He is married to the Rev. Suzanne Field Rabb, a member of the Southwest Texas Conference who has served as the Executive Secretary for Youth and Young Adult Ministries in the Mission Personnel unit. They have eight children and two grandchildren.
