SPSARV-Rush Center Partnership Trainings

SPSARV joined its efforts in a special partnership with the Rush Center of the Johnson Institute in early 2006. The Rush Center a renowned faith-based organization, combined with the Johnson Institute, has more than 40 years of experience in prevention, intervention and recovery support models and technologies. Through the SPSARV-Rush Center Partnership, SPSARV offers trainings in the U.S. across the five jurisdictions.

Faith Partners Alcohol and Drug Team Ministry)

The Faith Partners Alcohol and Drug Team Ministry model is lay-led ministry that equips new or strengthens existing congregational teams with a process for developing effective prevention, recovery and public policy advocacy ministry responses to alcohol and other drug addictions. The model includes a three-part series of trainings including a one-day Leadership Most importantly, the Faith Partners model helps congregations realize their role as a healing place in communities. Build a Faith Partners Alcohol andDrug Team Ministry in Three Easy Steps

Check the schedule for the Faith Partners Alcohol and Drug Team Ministry Training in your area, then follow the three easy steps below:

1. Register Your Congregation to become a Faith Partners Team and Build Congregational Support: Call to Action Kit

Your registration will include the purchase of the Call to Action Kit to build support for this ministry early. Use the Healing Places book, Faith Partners Journals, video, step-by-step guide, and technical assistance to introduce this ministry to clergy, potential team leaders, and congregational leadership.Readiness and support are critical to success.

2. Equip the Leadership: Leadership Training

Attend this six-hour workshop for clergy, staff, and lay leadership (2-3participants). The goal of the training is to equip participants with adequateinformation for taking the next steps to develop or strengthen an existing congregational team. The team will address alcohol and drug prevention, recovery, and public policy advocacy. Leadership Training topics include: therole of the faith community; the scope of the ministry; important tips forclergy and team facilitators; potential barriers to the ministry; and steps,tools, and strategies to assure success in beginning this ministry. LeadershipTraining includes a set of three ministry guides and ministry tools (congregational survey and congregational inventory).

3. Develop the Team: Team Training

After Leadership Training, send a team of three or more to the two-day training, scheduled in September and October. Team Ministry Training addresses specific prevention, recovery, and advocacy strategies; team functioning; connection to community resources; and an initial plan of action.

NOTE: Information about the Skills Training will be provided following participation in the Team Training.
