Executive Director

Houchen Community Center, a non-profit human service institution located in El Paso, Texas, is seeking a forward-thinking, ambitious, and innovative individual for the position of Executive Director.  

Houchen's mission is to make God's love a reality in El Segundo Barrio and nearby neighborhoods through its work to meet the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of children, youth and adults.

Duties
Responsibilities for this full-time position of Executive Director will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects and functions of the Community Center;
  • Providing overall supervision of staff, volunteers, and agency placements;
  • Developing and sustaining working relationships with other church and community programs, as well as with coordinating and planning groups;
  • Assessing community/constituency needs as a basis for local, state, and national planning and action;
  • Developing and managing all program services and ongoing community relationships;
  • Managing personnel, finances, property maintenance, grand writing and assisting with fund raising.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a bachelors degree, from an accredited school, in Early Childhood Education, Business Administration, Social Work or related field with specialization in preschool and/or organization/management; a minimum of three years' experience in program management and social skills dealing with infants, youth and/or adults; excellent written and verbal communication skills (bilingual - Spanish preferred); the ability to communicate with community groups of various socioeconomic and professional backgrounds. Experience in fund raising is considered a plus. Additionally, in this time of ever-changing societal needs, the successful candidate must be able to think creatively, determine alternative courses of action to challenges which arise, and be willing and able to think strategically. Driver's license and/or access to a vehicle is required.

Salary
Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
