Background / History

Alfalit has been teaching for more than 47 years and has touched more than 7,000,000 people in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. We have brought health, education, preschools, and nutrition to the various communities we serve.

Mission

The mission of Alfalit is to improve the quality of life of all people in the communities we server. We provide high-quality, cost-effective education with compassion and respect for the people whom we work with. We develop the method of "Each One Teach One," where our work is sustained in the villages, as each person who learns to read and write is encouraged to teach another.

Goals & Objectives

To improve the literacy levels in the communities in which we work. In approximately six months, a person should learn to read and write through the Alfalit program. Students are tested at the end of each program and receive a certificate of accomplishment.

Activities Plan

1. Research the literacy levels of the different countries we serve.
2. Acquire funding for the creating of a school and programs to provide basic education.
3. Use volunteers and the church to provide the teaching to the necessary people in need of literacy.
4. Organized classes and training for teachers and students to reach the goal of literacy in 6 months.

Project Outcomes

There will be an improved educational level and level of individual self-esteem providing a means to avoid exploitation.

Project Indicators

The students will be tested upon completion of the program by local authorities and the leaders of the program in each community.
